Nanette Ellis, a 41-year-old single mother of two teenage boys, was killed in a frenzied knife attack in her Boronia home on the 10th of February 1984. She had arrived home from work at 5.15pm and was due to go out with friends at 6pm. She was killed during this time.
In the weeks leading up to her death, she had been the victim of vandals. On four consecutive days, rocks had been thrown at her car as she drove to her job at a local newspaper on Monbulk Rd. Then her car was vandalised with paint and her tyres were slashed.
On the day of her death, her son Greg had arrived home from a friends house just after 6pm and found her body on the back porch.
