On the 7th of June 2001, 23-year-old Rachelle Childs parked her 1978 blue Holden Commodore sedan at the back of the Bargo Hotel. Approximately 8 hours later her body was found in a ditch at Gerroa. She was partially clothed and had been burnt.
It is not known what happened to her after she left her vehicle but her father Graham Childs does not believe she would have gone off with someone she didn’t know.
There was washing in the washing machine at her home and the lights and TV were on. Her handbag, mobile phone and keys were found later.
An inquest was told that Rachelle’s boss at the Camden Holden dealership, Kevin Correll, had allegedly told three witnesses that her fingers had been removed but this information was not known at the time.
There is currently a $200,000 reward for information that leads to the conviction of her murderer/s.
